Travel and Tourism

 

The Travel and Tourism Course is an introductory qualification in tourist industry. It develops the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for work in this area. This course is available to pupils in S4-S6.

Learners will develop:-

skills to become effective job-seekers and employees

skills to deal effectively with all aspects of customer care and customer service in travel and tourism

the product knowledge and skills to deal effectively with customer enquiries in relation to travel and tourism in Scotland, the rest of the United Kingdom and worldwide

 

National 5 Travel and Tourism consists of 4 units:

Employability (including work placement)

Scotland Unit

UK and Worldwide Unit

Customer Service

Requirements

 

The course has no exam at level 5. Candidates are assessed through project work, presentations and role play. Candidates must be prepared to engage in giving talks and roleplaying customer scenarios to receive the award.  At level 5 for unit assessments candidates are expected to work alone with minimum support.

 

Travel and tourism is a skills based course and focuses on building the following skills.

 

Literacy, Reading, Writing, Listening and talking, Numeracy, Number processes, Money, time and measurement, Information handling, Employability, enterprise and citizenship, Information and communication technology, Working with others and Enterprise.
